Unlock Profitability: Lower Your CI Score

If you thought all of this talk about Carbon Intensity (CI) scores was eventually going to be a fleeting thought, you’re wrong. CI scoring is not going away. In fact, you will only be hearing more about them in the coming months leading up to January 2025. So it’s important to get educated now so you can be ready when the opportunity arises.

CI Scores and Their Significance

The standard CI score for corn sits at 29.1g GHG/MJ, a baseline assigned to uncertified fields nationwide. Soon, every load will carry a county default score unless your field is CI-certified. Consider regional differences: Minnesota's superior soil health yields higher bushels/acre, naturally lowering CI scores. Higher yields translate to lower CI scores, boosting profits and premium opportunities.

Beyond yields, other best practices like cover cropping, reduced-till methods, and manure application also impact CI scores. Our focus? Helping farmers lower fertilizer usage. You may wonder, "How can I maintain yields while using less fertilizer?" It's not only achievable but already underway. We've got the evidence to prove it.

Transform Your Practices with Ide Seed & Fertilizer

Through the use of biologicals, we can increase the health of your soil, providing it with the nutrients it needs to increase fertility and allow the plant to start taking in the fertilizer you are applying to it. This is your reminder that more fertilizer is not better. You can continue to add and add fertilizer to your fields, but it will just sit in your dead soil because the nutrients are not available for the plant to take and use. Our approach ensures every nutrient counts, maximizing efficiency and profitability.

Embrace Change and Opportunity

The time for action is now. Things are changing—be at the forefront and ready when they take effect. Be willing to change your practices and mindset. If you don’t believe it, call us, and we’ll show you the proof. At Ide Seed & Fertilizer, we are farmers, too. We aren’t just using these products in our customers’ fields; we are also implementing these practices and products in our own fields.
